In Your Dreams... (return to 'Articles')
I was introduced to lucid dreaming just over two years ago. After reading information on the internet, and talking
to friends about the phenomenon I decided that this was something I definitely wanted to be able to do.
At the time of my first lucid dream I had no idea what I had experienced - I
just thought 'wow, that was a cool dream'! Only after finding out about the adventures of other people did I begin to understand
the true potential. There really are no limits.
If you haven't yet heard about it, becoming lucid is basically realising that you're dreaming. This opens up all sorts of
opportunities for you to take advantage of the massive power of your brain.
With a bit of practice you will be able to create a landscape or situation to explore, and develop enough control to maintain lucidity.
I'm still working on this. For example, I decided during a recent lucid dream that I wanted to explore the Titanic. I managed to create the dock, but no matter how hard
I tried I couldn't create the ship. The boats I created all ended up far too small. Hopefully it won't be long before I manage to re-create the actual liner.
Obviously you should use common sense when deciding to pursue lucid dreams. It's not a good idea to attempt to escape from the
real world. They should be a productive use of the time that you already spend asleep. And they can be very productive. Imagine you were
asked to give a presentation to 500 people tomorrow. Lucid dreaming could give you the opportunity to practice!
If you can create a situation beforehand in a dream then you can prepare yourself better. Maybe you
want to boost your confidence at a more personal level. Try talking to the characters in your dreams. Dance with them, flirt with them... it's up to you.
You're probably fairly skeptical. If this is the case, then I advise you to explore the rest of this site. Go to the welcome page
